I was wunderin, how did your wife break those toe bones? Kickin yer ass or did she drop the cast iron skillet on her foot after she hit you in the brain pan with it? At any rate it sounds painful and hope she has a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the thoughts and concern.
She was heading out the door for work and was carrying a blanket to put on the seat for dirty workers from the shop (Our Son) don't trash the beige leather seats. Well then, she stepped on part of the blanket going down 4 stairs and it tripped her into a forward fall to the sidewalk. I Imagine the Blanket put a lot of pressure on the foot at the moment she went airborne. She is Petite Lady @ 5'3'' and 98 LBS. with skinny boney little feet!
She sees A specialist on Tuesday and And waiting on a Knee Scooter (All Terrain) that is due to arrive on the 28th. She will likely have pins and a plate with no weight on foot for at least 6 weeks. Folks who have used the knee scooters get along good but did mention not to waste money on the cheaper ones with the little wheels but to Opt. for the all-terrain Larger wheeled sturdy framed unit. Zoom Zoom
The delay concerns me because she has been Type 1 Diabetic since she was 19 years old. all though she is in good control of said diabetes. @ 64 years old, Foot injuries can be problematic and slow to heeling. They had no sense of urgency at the Foot Doctors.. WTF.

Its called "professional detachment" which, translated from medical jargon means, it ain't my foot that's broke...

Keep a close eye on her. The diabetes is a big concern with healing. My wife did some minor damage, in comparison to your wife, and she was off her foot for 6 weeks. The house we had, had 14 steps to negotiate in the back door, so, all of a sudden, it was ok to drive in the front yard and use that door for a wheel chair. I made a ramp. If you have to build a ramp, make it twice as long as you think it needs to be. My wife has diabetes, too. It’s hard to believe, but my wife pretty well followed the doctors orders and it healed well.

Our daughter was diabetic from 3. She was a Degreed Registered Nurse, but refused to follow medical recommendations. She made it to 53. She died a bad death. The Doctor's orders are the best hope your wife has. Help and encourage her.
