Of all things to give tire troubles, this time it is my garden tiller with a flat tire. Why it even has pneumatic tires is beyond me. Solid rubber would be just fine, but anyhow, that same tire went flat last fall. Tire came unseated from the rim. I wrestled with it, got it aired up again, and finished the job. NOW that tire is flat again. Unseated from the rim again, and this time the tiller was not moved from where it was parked last fall. I took that wheel off the tiller, wrestled with it once again, and got the tire aired up. This time I just left it setting on the workbench to see if it would stay up. It is NOT. I checked it yesterday and it had lost 5psi. Checked today and it has lost another 5psi. I absolutely cannot find ANY leaks anywhere. Not the valve core. Not the stem itself, nowhere around the rim/bead area, and nowhere in the body of the tire. Guess I'll go shopping for an inner tube. If I can find one. The tire is a 4.80x8.

5# a day is a lot. It seems like that should show up.
Can you submerge that thing in soapy water?
I have had good luck spraying the tire & rim with soapy as well.

That is the next step. I have only sprayed windex on it because there was a bottle of it already on the workbench. Might have to bring it in the house and immerse it in the sink.

Some of those small tires can be more of a pain in the ass than a full sized tire. Harder to get them to hold air and too small to hold on to when you need to mount or dismount.
I got tired of wrestling with those little ones and picked up one of these:
They are still a PITA, but not as bad as wrassling with it on the floor

I like it. If I thought this would be a regular occurrence, I would get one.

Yep. I have a similar/larger one of those changers. I had an old unused concrete slab about 4X12 foot that I mounted it on. It is definitely light duty, but really handy. Sometimes I have to start the procedure with a corner of the front end loader of the New Holland and a sledge hammer first. There must be close to a hundred mounted tires on this place all totaled. At least one of them has a small leak continually. I think I hear it now 😒

I am north of 50 fer sure.
I made a holder for golf cart rims that clamps in a vise.
Wheel barrow & such I use a long bolt clamped in the vise.
And I am sure there is about a dozen batteries which give more issues than the tires!!
I sat down with a cold one & give it a little thought, there is at least 74 of them tires here....

25 tires here that need to hold air. I'm about to give up on batteries and invest in extension cords.

" " ... at least 74 of them tires here ... " " Yep, they sneak up on you. Ya, you kind of forget about the small ones, welder, wood splitter, hand carts, golf cart, power washer, tiller, etc
That little list is over a dozen....
