Boiling maple syrup here in the area, little or no snow in the area. Warm days. cold nights. Make the sap run very well. Might get our first snow in weeks here of up to 8" of snow going into Friday with 40mph winds?

We've got the wind and cold temps. Weatherman is trying his best to dump some snow on us beginning tonight.

Well, dang me:
" " Roses are red and violets are purple Sugar is sweet and so is maple syrple And I'm the seventh out of seven sons My pappy's a pistol, I'm a son-of-a-gun " "
We are looking at a rain day tomorrow. I sure wish we could save some of it for August.

One of my better customers was talking about this the other day. He is using a gas fired Turkey fries and was looking for something a bit better.
50 years ago, my buddy Phil was tapping trees still using old galvanized buckets and lots of firewood. They made a lot. The old sugar shack has just about been reclaimed by Mother Nature now.

Not much Bucket Harvesting happening in our Forest. But I do like Maple syrup on my Corn bread and Oatmeal, but it can raise my Blood sugars beyond Normal so I got to be sensible.

Never had anything going with Maple syrup, but on the North side of Dad's place in AR was a good sized Cane operation. The feller grew it and had a decently large slapped together cooker. It was an isolated place, but it was actually syrup he cooked there. We'd get a complimentary quart every once in a while; he borrowed a tractor from Dad on a coupla occasions. That's where I had to go get the 300 out of a flood one time and almost stepped on a BIG Cottonmouth wrapped around the front tires. Might near ruined a good pair of Levis. I can Google over the area and still make out the cooker grown up in weeds.
