I kinda left the crank for a kick start and then I found out about lectrisity and that makes no sence what so ever do it? But Isure did have fun back when we still had party lines up here and listening in on all the goings on in the area.

When I first got married we lived in an old house for a few months that had a party line. I just couldn't get it through my (now ex) wifes head that every time it rang you didn't answer. Even better, the house belonged to a buddies dead mother so the phone was NEVER for us. She just couldn't understand why people would call and then tell her to hang up and mind her own business.
