I was pulling out the driveway this morning and a neighbor pulls in before I got out. He said he had got his 4430 JD stuck. I told him I had to go to town but would stop by and see what I could do. "Stuck" was an understatement. The belly of the tractor was in the mud and the drawbar was a foot or more in the mud. I drove the backhoe up to his place and dug down to the drawbar so we could hook a clevis to it. After breaking the 3/8" chain a couple of times he found a bigger chain and we got him out. There was mud around the crank pulley and radiator. It looked like he found a wet weather spring. Just a few feet either way was solid rock and gravel.

There is no fertilizer spreading going on around here. It was just about as wet as it gets and we just got another inch this evening.

I've got a big honkin chain that I make my truckdrivers go drag over when they manage to get stuck in some dumbass position where I can't push them out. They're always bitchin' and moaning about how heavy it is. I just tell them we're not pulling 8n Fords around.

Gettin' stuck isn't bad, uh huh, but after you dig under the tractor axle for enough room for the jack and a plank, get it all set and then start jackin, and the plank goes down and the water comes up !!! So after about three planks under the jack the water stops commin' up and the ole M starts to raise up out of the mud. Finally got the M out, left the disc there, then pulled it out backwards. To start with the wet spot wasn't any bigger than the disc was, I figured I'd just raise the disc up a little and walk on through, ya right !! some days a fella shouldn't even start a tractor !!
