Just had to be…..humans couldn’t screw things up this bad. on Phil’s White 155, I think we have it somewhat functional. Wires cut, disconnected, extra wires, you name it.

I had a older motorhome with a Big block chevy gas engine. This was about 2002 it did not seem to run as it should. A mech friend that was GM mechanic when these were new. He said he would stop by on the weekend. When he left I had a box full of vacuum hose an and electrical wire. He said as soon as they cleared warranty this is what they did. Amazed me how it could run and run better after he cut so much stuff off.

And, I bet it got a lot better mileage, too. Our scientific government somehow makes engines cleaner by gutting them and using more fuel.
This old tractor got a 5.9 Cummins stuffed in it a few years ago. That was quite a project.

This was a red wire that went to the starter and was supposed to go to the clutch pedal has to be pushed switch (which was obliterated) so, some genius had hooked a fuse between 2 female spade wire ends. I wrapped it with tape and more tape to keep it from getting kicked or shorted again.
Maybe it was dark orange, now that you mention it!

Could it be Harley's orange wire causing the problem That orange wire saga came to mind also.

I worked for an independent auto repair shop back in the '70s, when emission controls were first being a big part of all new cars. People were very unhappy with how these NEW cars ran. Just plain sluggish. The dealer who sold the cars had his hands tied and could do nothing to make the cars run better, but as independent shop, we COULD, and did. The shop ticket described the work we did. "Reroute vacuum hoses". We could make a very sluggish brand new car run good enough to be almost wild.
