I've been having some issues lately with shortness of breath and also some balance issues. Saw a new doctor a few days ago, and I actually like the guy. Gave them several blood samples. Then they did an EKG, and then they X-rayed my lungs. NONE of those tests revealed anything, so now they want to do a chemical stress test. They sent me instructions pertaining to what I need to do prior to doing that test. One big thing that caught my attention right away---If I have shortness of breath, I am supposed to inform the doctor who will be doing the test.
DUH!!! Shortness of breath is EXACTLY why I am doing the test. Somewhere, there is a serious lack of communication.
This is not over yet!!

Thank obama care!!!
The new guide lines don't give much care to old people!
They barely do more than read your blood work at a physical these days.
They are also quick to ring their buddy's cash register if ya bring up any issues.
The old docs took of things as needed without sending you to a bunch of specialists.

I just got home from my annual wellness check up. The nurse said I've got a few questions I told her I could make up a lot of answers. The Dr. came in and checked this, that and some other things, we visited for a while, got some prescriptions renewed. We have been seeing this same Dr. for a number of years, she actually cares about her patients. I will say that I think her husband is a lucky man. I ended up across the hall and got a needle stuck in my arm for blood work. That little gal was good, didn't even feel it when she poked me with the needle.

Back a few years ago my Cardio Doc had the bad manners to die. He had already lost several marbles but I liked him. I did well under his advice. His partner took over my situation. Not so good. I must have good insurance or something because the new Doc goes thru a lot more procedures and blood lettings. One of them is the stress test via treadmill. I don't mind; the operator is a cutie. I am told that I do exceptionally well on the treadmill. She sets it on top speed and I have to hold on to the bar and shuffle my feet like I had to when Dad would have me dismount and remove the lariat off of a thrown Brahama. Wahoo was always trying to get outta the way of that mad mama as fast as I was. It's a wonder that treadmill hasn't thrown me off the end. They have on multiple occasions told me not to opt for the chemical stress test if I don't have to. I've never asked why.

I didn't even know about the chemical test until after I agreed to a stress test. I just figured it would be on a treadmill.

Being on Medicare? A Typical breeding beef cow gets better care on a Wyoming Ranch.
Thing that gripes me is if you read their records on you, the transcriber will assume you have a condition based on your prescription drugs and not what you have been diagnosed with. I have had to correct my record a couple of times. I asked the doctor how they can list you as having **** When you have never seen or inquired with a Specialist qualified to Diagnose a Condition.
***If you do not have access to your records on-line at their office, I recommend you have them Print you a copy of your records and history at least once a year, Scold them and make them feel stupid as possible and then have them correct the record.

I don't understand one thing those #$%&@ records say. SHE goes with me to the Doc's now, and they discuss my condition while I just sit there. I don't want to know anyway.

I had that treadmill crap many years ago. I guess that I passed it, but it wasn’t fun.
One thing that I had and sure wish that I hadn’t was a barium swallow thing. I have always had some swallowing problems and there is an esophigial problem that runs in the family, thought it might be good to find out if I had it before I ended up like my father with a feeding tube stuck in my gut. Well the test showed nothing, but I had diarrhea for the next couple of months, then they screwed me up some more with steroids, after telling me that test can’t do that to you.

I'm going to turn 54 next month and was thinking maybe someday I should go to a real doctor and not the quack chiropractor I get my DOT physical from every other year. But after hearing all your stories I'm not sure. My last tetanus shot was 27 years ago, I only remember because it was the year we were married. I had blood drawn for the first time this last year at the dentist's office for an implant. I was freaking out a bit, but it wasn't bad at all. Even the dentist commented "you probably don't go to the doctor for much, do you?" Nope. At work they're going to keep working me till the day I die so the plan is to hook a blood pressure cuff up on me to a Murphy switch in the dozer so when my blood pressure drops the dozer dies and it doesn't end up three counties over.
