In a weak moment, I took several Husqvarna chainsaws to work on. I figured they didn’t need much. well, the first one just about ate my lunch. He said it started hard. I replaced the fuel line. It probably didn’t need it, though. I got it started, but it wanted to run wild or die, didn’t respond to adjusting the carb. I got frustrated, but finally figured out it had to have a massive air leak…..sure enough, the gasket to the jug was hanging out. I guess I am finishing somebody else’s job. I found a split primer bulb on the other one. Maybe that will get it going. Now the problem is getting parts. It sure seems like everybody sells saws, but parts dealers are few and not so handy. I am hoping my Stihl dealer buddy can get a gasket that’s close enough, or, I might try to whittle one out.
Parts for the little saw appear to be about obsolete, and what I found on the internet were very expensive, like $200 for a carburetor (for a $25 saw!)

Check cutters choice or performance saw.
Ebay also has lots of saw parts, not sure about quality but sometimes they have reproduction parts.

I had a small, Poulan saw many years ago. It started having issues so I investigated. Found the jug to be loose, and it had eaten the gasket. I applied some of that blue silicon gasket maker stuff, tightened the bolts that hold the jug and started it. It ran great, so I put it in my truck, went to the local Homelite dealer, and traded it for a new saw.

My first saw was an XL400, then got a couple Stihl later when the Homelite dealers went away.
Now I do not have any Stihl or Husky dealer close by either....20 miles to the closest dealer so I keep sprockets, bars & chain on hand.
I have had very good service from Stihl chains & bars.
I still have 2 nice Super XL Homelites. I hear Oregon is discontinuing the 096 bar mount which fits the older Homelites so I bought a few off Ebay fer spares.

I bought a couple of Sugihara bars, one for the Shindaiwa saw and one for the Stihl. Then I promptly ran over the Stihl, so, I made a little adapter to put the Stihl Mount bar onto an Echo saw, also had to take a carbide burr to open up the oil passage. It works good, but the Stihl pattern bar takes a 67 link chain opposed to 66. Those bars must be hard, they wear a lot better than the average bar. I never found an Echo bar that was much good.
I used to buy a good bit of stuff from Cutters Choice, but they discontinued the bars I like and prices went up, so……..

I think the new Homelite was a super 2? Something like that. It is still around here somewhere but hasn't been anything more than a paperweight for many years. Had another Homelite that was bigger. I finally gave up and bought a Stihl 024. Still got it, but it wouldn't start the last time I needed it so I bought an electric.

Yay! I got these 2 saws running! And without going to the Husky dealer! I visited my friend, the Stihl dealer and got enough stuff to get them going. I had to make a gasket for the little saw and the bigger saw was happy to get a new primer bulb. The Stihl bulb didn’t quite fit the Husky hole, so it got some file work.

I got another husky 455 to work on. It is not getting oil to the bar. So, I look for oil pumps on the internet, they range from $5 something to over $92, and the other little parts are similarly priced. If I lose the little screw that holds the pump on, there is a helpful fool offering them for $17 (common metric Allen head screw) Fortunately, I think it just had a little sawdust in the wrong place. I am gonna clean everything and try it, before spending anything.

25 years and going strong, but I cannot remember if the 16' bar length saw is Poulin Or Homelite...Only used it 3 times in 25 years.

I used it a little bit, and it is oiling. What happened, it musta throwed the chain off and got a little hole in the sheet metal cover, in behind the clutch, and a little bit of sawdust in there obstructs the pumping.
Cutters Choice used to offer those pumps and related parts, but they don’t show them now. I guess I can go to the dealer, and probably get that $92 pump, or I can go to Amazon and get my choice of them for $5 to $15 and that shield is priced similarly. Gotta look for free shipping.

My Echo weed wacker would not start, and I got a new carb, complete rebuild kit and 2 extra priming bulbs from Amazon for less that $20.00. All of this came in the same package, all I really wanted was the bulb.

I bought one of those $20 carb kits for somebody's gizmo one time from eBay not too long ago. But I can't remember who's or what just now. It worked like a charm. Really surprised me. (I'm probably qualified to run for President. )

I spent a lot of time on Amazon looking for parts. There are lots of listings, but, a lot of them appear to be the exact same picture, and, if you investigate further, they might originate from the same place, so, I am guessing you have a lot of sales people trying to sell the same garbage. If you find one those listings with believable bad reviews, expect similar no matter where you buy it from. I also look at the sellers other offerings, if it is not focused on similar products, I am not very convinced they know what they are selling. Don’t expect it to fit or even work at all. I will pay a bit more for some peace of mind and buy from a dealer that appears to have a reputation.
Erstwhile for president!
